The new 2020 Acura RDX is a big hit here in our Redwood City showroom, that said, no car can ever be considered great without comparing it to the leading competition. At Hopkins Acura, we’re all about transparency, and so we’d like to compare our Acura RDX to the 2020 Buick Envision.
The 2020 Buick Envision
The 2020 Buick Envision is a five-seater crossover that funnels power through a compact 2.5-liter inline-4 engine that is rated at 197 horsepower. With 4,000 pounds to lug around, this small engine can feel a little underpowered, especially considering it has to work with a six-speed automatic transmission and a front-wheel drivetrain. You also shouldn’t expect much in the way of onboard technology. The 2020 Buick Envision equips is base model vehicles with the bare minimum in safety tech, including airbags and seatbelts; you’ll have to pay more to get anything advanced. The same can be said of infotainment, as the 8.0-inch infotainment touch display feels a little small considering the Buick Envision’s luxury classification.
The 2020 Acura RDX
The 2020 Acura RDX, on the other hand, makes a far better first impression. The base engine is a 2.0-liter turbo that utilizes the help of a 10-speed automatic transmission to thrum out 272 horsepower and 280 lb-ft worth of torque. When put to task, this base engine can leap from 0 to 60 in as little as 7-seconds—pretty good for a compact SUV. Automotive technology is no issue for the Acura RDX either, as every model gets a safety package that includes a suite of active safety features. Added to that basic safety package is a brilliant 10.2-inch smart display with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ integration, vastly superior to this model’s Buick competitor.
So, while the Buick Envision and the Acura RDX may both be luxury SUVs, only the Acura SUV truly lives up to its classification. You can test-drive the latest Acura RDX when you visit Hopkins Acura, home to some of the finest Acura dealers in all of Redwood City, CA.
